(I recently changed my name to Amaya, as I believe it fits the story of who I am better. So please don't be confused when you see me referred to as Jen in my references :)

I'm a free-spirited, non judgmental and entrepreneurial soul with severe wanderlust and thirst for experiencing the world. I've solo-traveled for two months in Thailand and it changed my life, but it was only the beginning. I've worked everything from retail to bus driving to web developing and now manage my own rental company.

Let's share our stories over drinks, or go hiking, or go to an edm festival, or do yoga, or jam out musically (I play a little guitar and sing)... I'm wide open to experiencing many things, and I want to hear your story.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm not on couchsurfing to find a free place to stay. I would really love to get to know you and your city -- so many hidden secrets and people and customs I would never know would show themselves, if you're kind enough to indulge me :) This is not about money but about togetherness, of finding joy and happiness in getting to know new people and places and sharing those experiences.

I'm eager to share whatever I can of myself, my travels, and my stories. From scuba diving in the Bahamas to staying the night with a local hill tribe in Thailand, and even getting a couple of kitesurfing lessons -- I endeavor to be adventurous, willing, and giving while getting to know new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically, I love a wide range: most things with a good beat get me going, and anything that makes me emotional will have me diggin' it. Some name drops to make it easier: Ed Sheeran, OneRepublic, MisterWives, Muse, Awolnation, Iggy Azalea, Zella Day, Odesza

Books: Asimov, Sagan, Vonnegut, R.R. Martin. (I really miss tucking into an epic fantasy series after GoT though. Nothing seems to compare.)

Movies: Cast Away, Catch Me If You Can, My Sassy Girl, Clueless (sorry, guilty favorite)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled alone throughout Thailand for two months. Such a soul-fulfilling experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to tell you about New York City, American or Korean culture, and anything related. I'm also pretty handy with tech-related web things and web development.

I can teach you how to make some DIY art like mandalas or wall art, healthy eating/cooking (though I'm still learning), and oh! I know this one really great magic card trick that always gets quite the reaction.

I would *love* to learn any of the following:
- music-related (guitar, singing, or just jamming)
- construction / wood working / furniture building
- or making anything with my hands
- organic farming / seed production / beekeeping
- the art of storytelling
- yoga / meditation / mindfulness
- and a million other things I won't even try to list

What I Can Share with Hosts

Am very willing and able to help clean, cook, and tidy around :)
I'm very respectful and get along with nearly everyone. I love all animals and know how to handle large dogs and have two cats of my own at home.

Besides cooking and cleaning, I'd love to take my host out on the town sometime for a dinner, drinks, a show... Am open to so many things. Let's just have fun!

Being a free spirit, I have dabbled with entheogens, and prefer a certain greenery as my vice of choice over alcohol. Of course, I will respect any rules of your household while I'm a guest in your home. I'm mindful of my limits and will respect any boundaries you put forth.
