ABOUT ME

Hey! I'm Amber and I'm from Jersey ... not New Jersey, but a tiny island near France in the English Channel. Growing up in such a small place definitely helped to fuel my wanderlust, because once I became aware of how huge the wider world is, I became determined to see as much of it as possible.

I spent three years teaching English in beautiful Yamagata prefecture, in the Tohoku region of Japan. I can't sum up my time there in just a short paragraph, but needless to say it was life changing. I met so many great people and had countless wonderful experiences that I'll never forget.

I've travelled fairly extensively, particularly around South East Asia, although there's always so much more I'd love to see. One of my absolute favourite things is arriving in a new destination and setting out to explore. I think I would travel forever if I could.

PHILOSOPHY

Aim to see and experience as much as possible. Don't settle down because it seems the easy or safe thing to do - go with your instincts, travel, meet lots of crazy people, take thousands of photos, take risks, see the world and make amazing memories.

Be kind. Listen to other people and open your mind to different perspectives.

Try to have no regrets.

I want to look back on my life and know that I fitted in as many adventures as possible along the way.

I have both surfed and hosted and I think this is a great way to connect with new people. It's wonderful to meet kind strangers from around the world, and leave as friends.

Too many to list but taking a dip in the Ganges in Varanasi, alongside water buffalo and floating corpses, was definitely interesting - I'm pretty much determined to keep this as a once in a lifetime experience ... but who can say for certain? ;-)

I also visited every prefecture in Japan, as a personal challenge, having some great experiences along the way.

I love discussing travelling, be it past, future or metaphorical.

I also enjoy cooking (vegan only!), and it's always more fun cooking for others.

I like photography so would be up for going in search of scenic spots with anyone else who's interested.

If you've not tried Geocaching before, it's a fun way to discover new places and it has become a bit of an addiction for me!
