Overview
About Me
Hi I'm Amber, and I'm a bookseller and writer. The main things I like to talk about are books, politics, philosophy, art, books, film, theatre, people, books... so if that sounds like your cup of tea then let me know :)
Would really love to get to know lots of new people and explore new places with people in-the-know. I'm always happy to help out around the house for my hosts, and I love cooking and trying new foods with people! I also love going out to the pub, so am looking for outgoing hosts as well as those wanting a quiet night in with good conversation!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because why stay in a boring hotel when you can meet new people and get to know a new town properly!

Music, Movies, and Books
I read and read and read - fiction, fantasy, travel writing, biographies, history, basically anything. Current obsessions are Olivia Laing, Frances Hardinge and the poetry of Sandra Cisneros.
Favourite films are What we do in the Shadows, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Delicatessen, Pan's Labyrinth, The Libertine, Brazil, the 1933 King Kong, The Big Lebowski, Labyrinth.
Kings of Leon are the greatest band on Earth.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Finishing the Camino de Santiago on the coast at Finisterra. Skinnydipping in the Atlantic Ocean at sunset, then the next morning climbing up to the rocks around the lighthouse, at the end of the world, and knowing that I'd walked 900km from France to get there. Sun and wind and great smudges of cloud across the sky. Tears and a vast lightness inside me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really want to improve my French and Spanish, and learn as many other languages as I can cram into my tiny brain!!
Things I can teach include English language, writing skills, horse riding, cooking and baking... and how to make some pretty good cocktails :) Plus, I'm pretty obsessed with my work, so whatever you like reading, I'll have a good recommendation for you!
