ABOUT ME

We are a family of three enthusiastic life learners! It's me, my husband Rocco and our 16 year old daughter Alexandria. We love people, traveling and exploring.

We sold all our stuff, rented out our house and started roaming. We've been roaming for about 6 months now (as of 9/2010.) We started in Texas and made our way through Louisiana and the Gulf Coast to Florida and spent more than a month loving the beaches near Sarasota and Tampa. After Florida we made our way north stopping for a bit to explore Atlanta and Nashville on our way to Lake Michigan. After stopping in Kansas and Oklahoma we finally made our way back home to Texas.

There are two things I know for sure from our travels. The first is that I REALLY wish we had couch surfed so that we could have had a host in each city and could have gotten to know the cities in a more intimate way. The second ... there is a serious amount of corn and soy being grown in this country!

PHILOSOPHY

We're unschoolers. We follow our passions through life to gain knowledge and understanding of ourselves, others and this world. Personal responsibility is a core value in our family.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We haven't yet participated at all but we are very eager to! We've been traveling 100% since about the time we signed up for CS. We can't host for the foreseeable future but hope that doesn't impact other people's interest in hosting us.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In-laws, old friends & family ... so we have learned to respectfully stay in others homes, but never stayed with any couch surfers.

We like food. We pretty much like trying anything, new. If there's something you love, then show us :)

Anna: traveling, cooking, trying foods from different places, movies, thinking, personal financial planning, learning, teaching, people who create their own interesting means of earning income, beaches on stormy days

Alexandria: boys, guitar, teenage stuff, singing/writing, fat pets, drawing people & eyeballs, walking around, reading, grammar, people with weird hair, tea, visiting museums alone, range rovers& old toyota hatchbacks, learning new crafts, traveling, mowing, bubble baths yada yada

Rocco: coins, economics, piano, guitar, pink floyd, history, coding, cold weather, physics

Anna: any post-apocalyptic movie, independent films, documentaries, big blockbuster films, books on finances or parenting, good music from pretty much any genre .. everything from rap to real old country music .. I just love music

Alexandria: obscure horror movies/ psychological thrillers, indie films, downers, resident evil type movies, but mostly anything with mila jovovitch. lady gaga, bob marley, the kooks, death cab for cutie, kate nash, bob dylan, eminem, the cribs, dr. dre, joan jett, the runaways, led zeppelin, the beatles, queen, 50 cent, my chemical romance, jethro tull, laura marling/noah and the whale, snoop dogg, metallica. i really like laura dockrill, and diary style books. anything with a murder/ mystery plot, as well.

Rocco: Almost any post-apocalyptic movie, blues and Pink Floyd, anything by Neal Stephenson or Murray Rothbard. Oh and the Travis McGee novels by John D. MacDonald.
