ABOUT ME

I believe in the concept of voluntary simplicity - which is great since for me it is not always voluntary. I am a nature lover and find myself most at peace among the trees.

I've worked seasonally for several years driving a horse and carriage giving tours of Mackinac Island, MI which has forbid automobile traffic since 1898. Being a fan of nature and bicycles, it's a lifestyle I thoroughly enjoy. One year I rode a beat up old bicycle to the island (St.Ignace technically - can't bike to an island) from New Orleans. That was the best road trip of my life.

I'm an optimist trapped in a cynic's body. I hate politics but I'm usually pretty informed. I've been disgusted by all of my politicians at some point or another, and can easily get caught on a soapbox about any number of issues. However, I'm starting to recognize there is duality in everything, and I try not to believe everything I think.

I don't really use this website any more (it sucks now), you have to contact me on the non-profit couchsurfing alternative. I can't name it due to couchsurfing shutting me down if I do. But it begins with the word Be, and the second word is what you'd commonly find on a door mat (welcome), and it's a .org since it's actually a non-profit. If you have a profile on there I'll be much more apt to host you. Also, I'm based in Anchorage now, but might be able to provide you with a place to crash in Talkeetna. I'm listed on that website as being in Mackinac Island, Mi - and I'll be found there from September 20 - October 20.

I like happy/funny/inspirational movies, and I don't like sad/violent/fantasy movies (with the exception of documentaries). I like almost all music, and I like reading non-fiction material. Truth is stranger than fiction dontcha know?

I rode my rickety 10 speed bicycle 1700 miles from New Orleans to St.Ignace Michigan. That was the best 2 months of my life. Some people say that's amazing, other people would probably say that's pathetic.
