ABOUT ME

I'm openminded and thoughtful, always willing to consider what you have to say. Discussions of philosophy, politics, music, movies, sports, history and other subjects can last quite a while with me.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe one should try to be as happy as possible while on Earth, because we are only here for so long. I would also like to leave behind a legacy by which I can be remembered, but I suppose I still need to start working on that.

I value peace and honesty the most, and I live my life to reflect that - I do my best to diffuse conflict and to tell the truth at all times.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am in the CS2 project so I can liven up my travels by meeting people who live in the area and doing the same for others. I love showing people around a place that I know and having a local connection to the place I'm visiting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was once in a group of ten people who somehow managed to sleep in the same two-room apartment in Munich. I still slept well, which is the best part.

A few weeks after Munich, I slept in a single-person residence room with three other people in Leeds, England. I'm amazed I managed to do that, but it was again a success - I still slept pretty well.

In the summer of 2009, I spent one night at Dominick Pochaba's apartment in Cork, Ireland after meeting him on the bus from Dublin.

I regularly surf my friends' and relatives' couches at their invitation.

兴趣

Music (both listening and playing), movies, sports, history, philosophy, languages, politics, food, cooking, travel, the environment.

I'm always interested in things I haven't heard of. For instance, while at the carnival in Cologne I discovered Reibekuchen (German potato cakes) and within two days, I was making them for myself.

Movies: Braveheart, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Dark Knight, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Gladiator, The Godfather. Almost any Hitchcock movie, as well as many black and white classics, It's A Wonderful Life and Casablanca being just two examples.

Music: My Top 25 Played list on iTunes includes the following artists: Bloc Party, 2Pac, The Pogues, Manu Chao, and the Grateful Dead. If you can tell me what kind of music I like, I'd be interested to know.

There's a few that come to mind, but I once saw the sun shine at midnight when I was in Nome, Alaska. And I have a picture. That was amazing.

I know quite a bit about all the things I listed under interests, and I'm willing to let you know about them. I also have a variety of random skills that prove useful at unusual times...just hang around me long enough, and they'll show up.
