Overview
About Me
I'm an extrovert who finds joy in making connections with people regardless of how brief or sustained. I'm thrilled at the prospect of meeting new people from diverse geographic and cultural backgrounds, whether it's through hosting or surfing. Working every day to resist complacency and seek wonder in the world and people in it.
I'm a queer attorney in the Raleigh area and have a solo practice. I practice criminal defense, represent victims of domestic violence, and assist people with legal name changes and gender marker corrections.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Short version: Because Jesse Greenwald recommended it!
Longer version: Entering a new phase of life, which includes dreaming of and hopefully executing solo travel. I'm very extroverted and love meeting people while exploring new places. Personal connection and exchange and/or traveling and experiencing areas more like a local are extremely appealing to me. I've lived a pretty textbook life focused on my partner, kids, career, etc. and now want to focus more on me and my exploration of life. I'm late to this party, but enthusiastic!
I'm also interested in hosting travelers. I have a unique housing situation due to a nesting custody model post-divorce. I have a rental in Cary, NC (between Raleigh and Durham) that apx every other week the bedroom isn't used overnight. I'm often there during the day but can share space and offer the bedroom overnight on weeks I am staying with my kiddos at the family home.
Interests
I like to eat, read, and enjoy attending cultural events: concerts, museums, theater, art exhibits, dance performances. I love exploring local thrift stores in new areas. I also like to be outdoors walking/hiking whether it is greenways, gardens, forests, or cities. I love to dance, and silent discoes are my new favorite thing!
I am always looking for new places to discover, even in my hometown.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm... I've jumped off Ka Lae, (aka South Point), the southernmost tip of the U.S. Bruised my tailbone in the process, but worth it!
