About Me
Hey there! We’re Amitabh & Chetali – Adventurous Backpackers & Bird-Nerd Couple! 🐦🎒
We’re on a mission to explore the world on a budget — one bird, one bus, and one beautiful story at a time!
Amitabh (that’s me!) is a techie by degree (Electronics Engineer), runs an IT, telecom & banking biz 💻📡💰 — but secretly dreams of being a National Geographic explorer.
Chetali is the wise one — a Certified Life Coach 🌟 who can calm your mind, open your heart, and help spot an owl in the dark (seriously).
Together, we’ve done bird surveys across the tiger reserves of Central India and the Himalayan foothills, and noted over 400 bird species worldwide 🦜🌍.
We love staying with locals, learning cultures, cooking (yes, we make Indian chai 🍵), and sharing crazy stories from the jungle to the city.
If you have a couch, a floor, a hammock, or even a treehouse — we’d be thrilled to surf it. Let’s swap stories and maybe spot a few birds together! 🌿✨

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We’re on Couchsurfing because we love meeting new people, sharing authentic experiences, and building genuine friendships across borders. 🌍❤️
For us, travel is about more than sightseeing — it’s about connecting with locals, understanding cultures, and exchanging knowledge, ideas, and laughter.
We believe that locals hold the real soul of a city — their guidance and stories always make our journey more meaningful than any guidebook ever could.
Whether it’s chatting over a home-cooked meal, learning about your traditions, or sharing tips on birdwatching and budget backpacking, we’re excited to connect, learn, and grow — together.

Teach, Learn, Share
Backpackers, Birders & Believers in Meaningful Travel 🌏🦜🎒
We’re slow travelers, not tourists. We love to learn about cultures, languages, food, traditions, and everyday life in the places we visit. For us, travel is a way of life — not a checklist.
We’re passionate about:
• Traveling light – 8kg backpacks, endless freedom
• Budget backpacking – spend less, live more
• Birding – including using mobile apps to recognize bird calls
• Mindful travel – because $10 can fund a child’s education for a month
• Spreading good vibes – we bring stories, chai, and curiosity wherever we go ☕
We believe:
“It’s not a real adventure when you have to pay for it.”
— Sir Edmund Hillary
We’re here on Couchsurfing to connect, share, learn, and contribute — one kind host and one warm conversation at a time.
