About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To drink and be merry, enjoy every minute of life and revel in the moment.

ABOUT ME

A transplant from San Francisco to Sydney (not a big leap, they're sister cities, but Sydney has FAR better beaches, believe me), I came here as a backpacker in 2008 and never left. Yes, one of those. My family considers me a tumbleweed (in a good way) but I like to think I'm a Kerouac of the world, moving from good to great as I wander about. Ever the host, I love introducing people to Sydney (or SF, if I'm in town) - I'm a constant Time Out reader, always checking out the new bars, cafes, restaurants and shows, and happy to point out the highlights to you. I love to cook and bake, though I'm not particularly skilled. A lifelong horse-woman, writer and entertainer, I'm happy to sit up and talk over a bottle of wine into the wee hours of the morning as I'm absolutely certain everybody has a good story in them.

PHILOSOPHY

I have a couch. You need a couch. Let's make this happen! I'm a big believer in this give-and-take, karma-style idea of CouchSurfing. We should all help each other out when we can, and hopefully someone will do the same for us in the future.

Outside of that, my personal philosophy probably boils down to: learn something new everyday and always give back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Aside from hosting at my house, I can generally be found at the monthly get togethers in Pyrmont and our annual Halloween party always has an open invite to the local CouchSurfers, to much success.

As a host, I'm eager to show you around, but I understand if you'd rather just lone wolf-it around the city. With a house of five, there's always someone around, and we have a great public transport system. Our house is definitely your house, so feel free to come and go as you please, use our kitchen, watch TV, do some laundry, whatever you're feeling. We do house dinners or Steak Night adventures about once a week (more when we have guests) and are always keen for a BBQ or picnic, outdoor concert or market crawl. If you stay with us, we'll let you know what's on and you can opt in and out at your leisure. Note that we are also a working household, so definitely more activity on weekends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed - via Hospitality Club - through Amsterdam, Berlin, and Sweden, and when I returned home I joined CouchSurfing, now I've hosted folks from all over the world!

Always a great time and a fabulous way to get to know people you wouldn't have otherwise met. Having a surfer around always adds that extra element of fun in everyday life - it's exciting, it's a great opportunity to show off your little piece of the world and why you love living there, and you get to hear great stories from travellers passing through.

Plus, when I'm not travelling, CouchSurfing brings the world to me!

Interests

Photography! Art! Life and discussions thereof! Philosophy, film, history, music, cooking, and sports of all kinds. I'm really into running and yoga at the moment, heaps of good running spots around here! And I'm known to ride a horse or two while not traveling the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting in on a meditation session with the Dalai Lama, he has got hands-down the BEST laugh.

Teach, Learn, Share

Running paths around Sydney! I hit the pavement at least 5 times a week and have built up quite the arsenal of running trails. If you like to run (no matter the speed) I'm happy to give you some directions on where to go, or even join you in a bit of a wander-by-foot. I find that running in cities is the best way to take a tour and get a feel for the cities pace and vibrancy.
