As for movies, I like styles similar to Inception, Interstellar, Big Fish, Forrest Gump, Green Mile, Moon, Memento.
Books, I like to read multicultural books, recently I finished reading The Caligrapher's secret by Rafik Shamy, a syrian-german writer. Now I'm reading Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell after I finished a couple of books in Arabic for Naguib Mahfouz, an Egyptian Nobel prize winner.
