About Me

CURRENT MISSION

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurous, respectful, friendly, talkative, energetic, health-conscious, environmentally friendly girl who loves to laugh and share time, food, drinks, and culture with others.

I think of all my traveling as necessary to feed my adventurous side and a way of "research" for a lifetime of learning from different people from different cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

"It appears to me that nothing can be more improving to a young naturalist than a journey in distant countries." - Charles Darwin, Voyage of the Beagle

"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." - Dr. Seuss

"Live your dreams and reach for the sky. Believe in yourself and never ask why."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've slept on many of couches of friends and friends of friends all over the world. When I lived in San Diego, I welcomed many friends and family who took advantage of my excellent location so close to the beach, while being an excellent little guide of the city.

While traveling through Southeast Asia in 2013, I surfed several different places, and had an amazing time meeting some really cool people. Thanks again hosts! You're all awesome!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a great time couchsurfing through Southeast Asia. I've met some truly amazing people and I can't wait to continue the adventures.

Music, Movies, and Books

All of the above...
Books: "Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice" by Mark Plotkin.. the best! I love to read most anything: comedy, history, political science, biographies, satire, cookbooks, travel books and blogs, and anything written by Chuck Palahniuk.

Music: I listen to anything at different times as I've found that music really has a huge impact on my mood (...from classic rock, aboriginal drumming, folk, reggae, rap, 80s, 90s, country, to anything else in between).

Movies: I appreciate watching a lot (except for scary movies...eek). But my favorites are comedy, action, adventure, or anything with some good travel scenery.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life is full of amazing experiences, and I only hope to gain more! Some of the highlights:

1. The Kleitersteig in Gimmelwald, Switzerland. (I hope I'm not giving this secret away!). A 2-hour climb along shear drop off cliffs, tight-rope walking across waterfalls, to finish with one of the longest suspension bridges I've seen. All with not one single other person around and only a cheap harness rental.

2. Climbing the Schilthorn in the Swiss Alps. Apparently everyone else takes the cable car to the top, but the 12 hour roundtrip day hike was worth it, and running as fast as we could back down the mountain to make the 7:30 pm dinner so the 76-year-old Swiss man wouldn't be angry with us for being late (by the way we made it by 7:38, and his response "where were you?" haha really? 8 minutes late??!)

(See my pictures to see both of the above)

Teach, Learn, Share

I lived in Taiwan, and it's not on the standard travel itinerary of many backpackers....but... Taiwan is a great place with the friendliest people I've ever met, and it's easy to go in one big loop around the entire island on the train lines.

Countries I’ve Visited
