One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Around Christmas 1996, Seattle had a huge snowstorm blow in. I had gone there that day to get in a little shopping and took the express bus from Tacoma earlier that day. The snow had been falling all day and heavy enough to accumulate on the streets downtown. When the sun started to go down, downtown Seattle took on a very magical quality. All the Christmas decorations mixed in with the falling snow look very otherwordly. The streets were eventually shut down, open to buses only, and people were out walking in the middle of streets that were only a few hours earlier, bustling with traffic. I enjoyed a couple of hours, walking around and enjoying the city's Christmastime snow and decorations, but I eventually had to get back before I missed the last express bus back to Tacoma. I'll never forget that night and wished I had taken pictures of it, though I doubt pictures would have done it much justice. Someday I'll go back to Seattle and hope I'm there for another snowstorm.
