ABOUT ME

Rather broad in my interests, my main carreer/passion is in wildlife. My work involves surveying potential mine sites in the northwestern Australian deserts for rare animal species, with the goal of preserving those species from the mines. It suits me rather perfectly as I've always been one to revel in running around in the bush looking for critters!I'm generally one to create basic life plans, and live as spontaneously as possible within them. I love meeting new people, partying or chatting quietly - as well as having solitude. I never get bored. Life is a mass of opportunities, and I try to take as many fun ones as possible!I returned from a four month mostly solo trip around Australia (with a 16 day visit to the USA thrown in) in mid February. After five days of settling in back at home, I was off on my first work trip! And so begins the year.

PHILOSOPHY

There are a few. Work to be happy, and pass that happiness on to those around you. Try new things at every oportunity. Never forget the importance of simple pleasures. Act like a kid, shamelessly. Know yourself.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It can be tricky for me to participate with my fly in fly out work, with my home time tending to be unreliable, usually not knowing when my next job will be. I also share the house with two room mates who are not entirely open to the idea of couchsurfing. However, contact me and I'll do what I can to make time for a coffee and hopefully an adventure or two while you're here. I'll also of course always be happy to answer any questions or give what advice I can on this here website :).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All of my couchsurfing experiences have been amazing. From scoring free Halloween party tickets in LA, to staying in the grand canyon village itself, leaving my most valuable of all possessions, my 4wd/temporary home at a couchsurfer's place in Sydney while I travelled the US - to some brilliant couchsurfer gatherings and house parties in melbourne and a wonderful stay in the little Qld town of Mackay! My experience with couchsurfers is that they are a fun, friendly, adventurous and generally amazing breed.

My tastes are too broad haha... Music - not so keen on dubstep, otherwise I probably like it. Movies - just about everything. Books - the well written ones.

So many... What I consider to be my greatest adventure to date was when in late 2011 I bought a large 4WD with a bed in the back, packed my things, and drove around my extended backyard, Australia, for about four months (with a side trip to the USA thrown in). The adventures I had, the people I met and the overarching sense of freedom I enjoyed during that time made the whole experience a massive contributor to the person I am today.

I know and would love to teach (to a willing ear) a bit about reptiles, birds and mammals of north western australia, and a bit less about those from the south west. Would love to learn more about those of... Well, everywhere! Keen to both teach and learn about fire spinning, and share/teach/learn about art, writing, horse riding, and most activities of fun!
