About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn, grow, travel, take photos, finish graduate school, dance, love, laugh, speak my truth.

ABOUT ME

The Hindu goddess Akhilandeshvari 'never not broken' best describes me right now...I thought I had it all figured out and then I discovered that really I am redefining myself everyday, choosing who I want to be in the moment. Most days I do the best that I can do to love, laugh, live life to the fullest potential. There are times when I just let it all go and expect nothing out of myself which allows me to be more accepting of myself and others.

I have had a full life, including a marriage, raising some dogs and cats, trips to other countries, going to music festivals, working hard long hours, getting a college degree. Mostly what I have discovered is that the more I learn the less I know.

Things that make me smile are: dancing, spending time with my friends, swimming in the river, whiskey, driving fast with the windows rolled down and the music cranked up, sunshine on my face and the first sip of coffee in the morning.

I love fashion, cool jewelry, shoes and beautiful things but try to maintain a balance and live simply. Sometimes I shock people with my uninhibited behavior. I have no qualms about making a fool out of myself. It's not my business what other people think of me.

PHILOSOPHY

Have a big heart, love big and lots, project into the world what you want to receive. Breathe through it. Live raw uninhibited by what other people think.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently hosting; hoping to surf in this year (2012).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted a few different CSers and had an international dinner night with a Pakistani, a Peruvian, a Turk, a Mexican. We all went the next day to a beautiful hike in the Columbia River Gorge and had lunch at the summit. Hanging out with Fatima from Barbados on the back patio listening to music, drinking margaritas, and eating BBQ was one of my favorite evenings that I'll never forget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was struck by the pilgrimage in Mexico City. Thousands of people walk from all over, near and far, to the Basilica to celebrate the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It was one of the most amazing demonstrations of tradition and faith that I have ever seen...even though I am not religious. Climbed Colca Canyon in Peru. Found untouched mummy tomb in the middle of the Andes under a big rock.

Teach, Learn, Share

I particularly enjoy people big on life experience and grey matter but little on ego. We all have so much to teach and learn from each other. I love sharing my passion for social justice and learning from others' passion in art, photography, travel, economics. Pretty much anything I can learn, is something good.

Countries I’ve Visited
