About Me

For the past six years, I've helped run a boutique winery. Occasionally, I take business trips. Other times, I ramble for pleasure--on long road trips, jaunts to see family back South, retreating into my yoga and writing practices, or just exploring new horizons. Along the way, I need a place to lay my weary head. Thanks for accommodating me! (And I am happy to return the favor.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Later this spring, I'm headed to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama to visit a friend and explore solo, too. I'm looking to meet some activity partners along the way.

Back home in California, I work in hospitality, so I am very accustomed to helping host folks. Come visit!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to anything, including tons of fluffy pop radio, but I love: Phosphorescent, Tift Merritt, Gillian Welch, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Bonnie Prince Billy, Band of Horses, Desmond Dekker

***

I don't have a TV, but let myself watch a little Netflix: Breakfast at Tiffany's, Maidentrip, All the Real Girls, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

***

I love to read (even though I'm way behind with contemporary authors): Flannery O'Connor, John Steinbeck, Ron Rash, Marilynne Robinson, Eduardo Galeano,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't really know how to answer this. Here's one memory leaping to mind:

It isa blazing hot summer day, and I'm in the Appalachian mountains with a friend I'd met at an art school there. We go to the river to wash our paint-spattered clothes. We can't help wading into the cold, fresh water. While we're swimming and washing, a sudden afternoon rainstorm strikes. Raindrops pummel the river, and us. It's a baptism.

Somehow, this is one of my favorite memories. I loved that day.
