I am a student from Arizona, but I go to school in NY. Currently abroad for the semester, and hoping to do some traveling. I have had friends use Couchsurfing to travel the world, and am always open to new experiences and I thought I would give this a try.

I enjoy stimulating conversation, and learning about new people, places, and cultural norms. I try to maintain an open mind to try and get comfortable with the uncomfortable. I love learning new things! I want to try new foods and see magnificent places. I love areas rich in history, where I can reflect on the people that were there before me: ancient ruins, cathedrals, and catacombs fascinate me. We just spent the weekend in Fes with our program, and it had all of these wonderful things! I had lots of practice bargaining and can now do it as a sort of game, and manage to get the item I want! I tried a camel burger and that was pretty delicious--it was like very lean beef, even leaner than bison....I don't knw what else to say.

I want to meet cool people and make new friends! I am a student living on a budget, and have heard great things about Couchsurfing, so I wanted to join! My mom's friend travelled all throughout Europe with her whole family, and had a really positive experience. I also think that meeting people an being in their homes gives a very different insight into a city that you wouldn't otherwise get! Right now I am living with a host family abroad, and it is remarkable how they have taken my roommate (another american student) and I in. We try to help out as best we can (pick up our room, help with dishes, etc.) and most importantly, I think this is the only way to be truly immersed in Moroccan culture. I think that couch surfing opens up new possibilities that I wouldn't otherwise get and people that I wouldn't otherwise meet!

I have so many! Just to name a few:
- languages (Latin, Arabic (Egyptian Colloquial, Moroccan Colloquial, Modern Standard), Mexican Spanish) and linguistics in general!
- lifestyles (cultural integration and cross cultural dialogues: I like to see how what I consider my "norm" may not be for others)
- music (I will listen to anything, but I prefer pop to dance to and jump around and blow off some energy; my new thing is Fairuz (an Egyptian singer) and Moroccan pop).
- dance (I dance hula and tahitian dancing, but also love love love going out and dancing with friends or even just dancing in our living room with music)
- new foods (my newest obsession is Moroccan Tagine: it's like a stew in this special little pot)

I really enjoy Arabic pop, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Adele, and classical music. I will listen to anything, though!

I am not a big movie person, but I like some classics like Breakfast at Tiffany's and Roman Holiday. I really like Law and Order SVU, the tv show!

I read a lot, anything from young adult fiction to biographies. I'm currently reading "Me Before You".

I believe in the fluidity of conversation, and how could you not share aspects of your life when you are staying with someone/have someone staying with you! I would like to learn more cross-cultural understanding and differences.

Unfortunately, since I am abroad I can't host people (since I am being hosted!), but when I am back home, I will definitely open up my couch! I can share life stories, cultural dialogue, and great conversation! I also tell bad jokes.
