Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world, meet new people, learn stuff and have fun!

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm a young filmmaker who plans to travel, see the world and meet some great people. I like films (duh), writing, reading and hanging with friends over a good meal and a bottle of wine. I'm friendly, sensible, sociable, and mature. I party hard, enjoy art, love music (favourite bands Antony & The Johnsons, Interpol, Joy Division, The Knife, Patti Smith, Talking Heads, Daft Punk, Le Tigre...) and doing crazy, adventurous things (one step below breaking the law haha).

PHILOSOPHY

I live to experience the breadth of human emotion. ...More so the good than the bad, but the whole scope!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Regretting I didn't discover Couchsurfing before going to the US a few months ago, planning to definitely use it for Europe this December (17th Dec -25th Jan). I'm going to around France, Switzerland, Amsterdam & Germany if you're close by...

Send me a message if you want to chat... :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed on many couches, but usually at a friend's place in my own town after one too many beverages. But seriously, I'm not a drunk!

Interessi

I write a lot - mostly ideas for films. I'm currently editing a feature documentary on a guy raising a pirate ship from the bottom of the ocean and a short drama about two men disarming masculinity. I like philosophy and deep & meaningful discussions. I'm not religious but spiritual - and like to pick and choose from Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and other religions for what suits me. I like modern art, art history, and video art - especially stuff that packs an emotional punch. I visited the MoMA in NYC recently and the AIC in Chicago and saw some great stuff. I'm also into reading, watching movies (especially on the big screen, as intended!) and getting into quantum physics, although a lot of science does my head in (I'm pretty sure that I'm a right-brainer).

Musica, film e libri

A good emotional, thinking story always gets me, from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Donnie Darko to American Beauty to Amelie to Edward Scissorhands to Death Proof (It was great! Come on!). I love films, books, art that just make me feel. I've seen a lot of arthouse films, and a lot of mainstream ones. I'm not a film wanker and I love Hollywood for what it is. A good film is a good film. Just unfortunate that Hollywood banks on star power & explosions, and has all the money.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

* Shooting a no-budget film on a beach for a week battling heat, wind, rain, hail, and sandstorms.
* Seeing a guy get mugged and then arrested in Tenderloin, SF (no surprise haha).
* Standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon looking into the gorges below.
* Witnessing the oh-so-wrong but somewhat hilarious masturbating monkeys in the Monkey Forest in Ubud, Bali. I'm serious.
* Constructing a 52 minute documentary. A great emotional rollercoaster!
* Many all-nighter antics.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I'm no scientist but I've been watching films like What The Bleep and reading books like The Field (by Lyn McTaggart). Did you know it's been scientifically proven that when we look right down to the foundations of "stuff" -atoms - they're essentially just energy. This is how human thought and concentration can have such a substantial affect on a world that is seemingly made of solid matter. It's been proven that atoms are actually erratic and changing until you look at them, thus anything out of your vision is potentially just possibility until you make it what it is by focusing on it. Also atoms have pairs that no matter how separate (ie on different sides of the universe), one will change when it's pair is changed (I believe this is called Entanglement). Apparently this explains why two people who are close to each other can become entangled and one will feel something when the other feels something. Also time is a map - the future, past and present are all happening at the same time and our thoughts can change them. They did a test where they got computers to record a random number of "beeps" and "bops" onto audio tapes, which they then buried in the ground. Months or years later, they then got group of people to focus on them and believe that there were more "beeps" than "bops" recorded onto the tapes (no one knew as they had been recorded by computers). When they dug them up the tapes and played them, there was always more "beeps" than "bops" or vice versa, depending on to what the group put their concentration.

Anyway, this probably sounds really unsubstantiated, but I think it's right....tell me if I've got it all wrong haha... I'm still learning!
