Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
WOOFERS and CS my daughter and son meet on their travels are welcome to stay with us in Melbourne when they pass through.
I also wish to improve my Mandarin and so am on the lookout for Mandarin speakers to share culture and language with.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have hosted a lovely dutch girl for 3 days and are looking forward to more.
We toured Brunswick and Melbourne on bicycle, then went to Sovereign Hill before dropping her at the airport. It is good to tour your own city as a tourist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had a dream to cycle tour in China, so in October 2014 I headed off for two wonderful weeks and did it. I took my own bike and contacted a Hangzhou local through warm showers (couch surfing for cyclists), where I could setup my bike and leave my bike box. I then headed out for a week and half of cycle touring into the countryside where I found very few tourists or english speakers. I navigated, found food, accommodation and very friendly locals. I travelled solo and had not one problem or hitch, overall a fantastic experience and a great confidence booster.
