About Me

My name's André, I'm from Brazil and I work as a game dev (coder, composer and sfx) and study electrical engineering at college. Currently I'm on a break from both and mostly spend my spare time on HMB and HEMA.

I enjoy learning about other people. So, feel free to tell me all about where you're from, where you've been, what do you think of this or that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So, I want you to recall deep into your past... 30 seconds? I said I like learning about other people, right? Well, that's it.

I want to see the whole world but going into the beaten path of the tourists seems... dull. Nothing wrong with that and there's some really amazing tourist attraction, there's a reason why people from all over the world go see them, but a tour guide speaking about the history of some place is hardly enough to get to know it. So here comes you, amazing reader: I want to get to know people around the world, see their perspective, let them show me their country in their own words and I don't necessarily need them to tour me along for that. Grab a beer with me! Tell me about your goals! Let's have an actual conversation and, if you have the time, show me around.

I promise you I'll try and do the same for you should you ever come around. =P

Interests

HMB and HEMA means: Historical Medieval Battle and Historical European Medieval Arts. Which are the fancy terms for putting on a suit of armor and bashing people with swords on the head.

The interests I've shared here should give you a general feel of the things I like, but you can always ask me. There's more stuff but what'd be the fun in just sharing everything like that? xD

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ehhh.... Lemme think. Well, I've handcrafted a knife recently. Got it a raw iron bar, forged it, heat treated it, grinded, sanded, the whole thing. I'll move up to swords in some time after I get the hang of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some portuguese or maybe give you some pointers on how to fight with a viking shield and sword. Oh, if you'd rather do something less... brutal... I can teach you how to cook some brazilian dishes. Music too, since I play guitar and keyboards.

As for learning, well... I'm up to pretty much anything. If you want to teach a bit of your language, advanced physics, how to dance, the difference between an african or an european swallow...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, pretty much what I've said before... Minus the things that I require specific equipment such as swordfighting or music. But I can always do all the cross-cultural, language-exchanging thing!

Oh, and laughs, of course. Provided you get my silly sense of humour.
