About Me

I'm studying English and French, and I'd love to learn more languages. Arabic is at the top of that list.
I'm ready to finish school and get out into the world. Ideally I'd like to be able to support myself by writing, and in the meantime I want to see as much of the world as I can.
I grew up on the plains in the middle of the US, so I love mountains and the ocean. We don't have too many of those in Missouri.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been stuck in the middle of the United States too long - I want to get out and explore! I think Couchsurfing is a brilliant way to do that because you can't really get to know a place without getting to know the people. For example, you don't know Kansas City until you've talked to a Kansas Citian about bar-b-que!

Interests

I like reading, writing, meeting people, learning about the Roman empire, playing tennis and walking my dog, Sadie. I also really like watching movies and TV. I'd love to have GoogleGlass because then I could take long walks while watching "Dexter." That would be the life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I play the violin, so I love everything you can play on it: classical, fiddle, bluegrass, hot jazz. I just wish I could play all those styles myself!

My favorite movie at the moment is "Capote," because it is so simple but captivating. Plus, it's set in Kansas not too far from where I grew up.

Books: anything and everything by Agatha Christie. I'm on a huge mystery novel kick. I also really like Stephen King. My favorite book of his is "Lisey's Story" for how amazingly it blends reality and fantasy. "Needful Things" is a close second.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent last summer as an intern in New York City. It was only my second time to NYC and I really enjoyed getting to know the city. I was there three months and still barely made a dent in all of the amazing things it has to offer.
