Hi! I am Andrea from Austria and in December 2024 I packed my bags to explore South America and learn Spanish. I am currently in Chile, sometimes more living, sometimes more traveling. I am interested in how towns are designed, enjoy landscapes and nature, love cycling and like doing something to make the world a little of a better place. I enjoy my quiet time as well as going out to eat, and every now and then for a drink or just dancing. Once I started with Couchsurfing, connecting with people became part of any travel.

Hola! Soy Andrea y vengo de Austria. En diciembre 2024 decidí a salir de mi país por America del Sur y aprender español. Por ahora estoy en Chile, a veces llevo en un lugar, a veces viajo. Me interesa urbanismo, bicicletas, y hacer algo para cambiar el mundo por el mejor. Me encanta la naturaleza y las paisajes. Me gusta pasar tiempo sola, y tambien salir a comer, tomar o bailar (con gente y sola). Desde que empecé con Couchsurfing, conectar con gente se convirtió en parte de mis viajes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A colleague of mine shared really good experiences and I had a trip to South America coming up, so I joined the club! I hosted before my trip, to see the other side. I believe Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to get to know people from various parts of the earth and share experiences. Moreover, when traveling, I like to experience the country and people living there in a more local and down to earth way. In 2025 I will be more surfing than hosting, cause of my travels. Looking forward to hosting again in 2026, to keep the multicultural feeling in my Vienna apartment alive :)

Un compañero de trabajo me recomendó para mi viaje al Latinoamerica, asi que me registré. Hice hosting tambien en mi casa en Viena, porque para mi couchsurfing es tambien una oportunidad para compartir experiencias y conocer gente del todo el mundo. Desafortunadamente en Chile no puedo ser host. Cuando estoy viajando, me gusta conocer países desde una perspectiva más alla de la turistica.

Music, Movies, and Books

I consider my taste in music very broad, as I'll be willing to go to the rave as well as to the rock or a capella concert or to see the orchestra play. Although, I believe my sweet spot in music lies in 60s soul, with pinches of girl pop for the energy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quitting my job and leaving the country with knowing nobody abroad. It turned out quite well!

Maybe more unique: Debuting at the Vienna Opera Ball in 2018, getting behind the scenes experiences to the Opera house, including the dressing rooms of dancers and singers, the room at the top and sharing a drink with the first opera dancer and his companions.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to share parts of the Austrian culture, whether it is food, dancing the Waltz or just communication about the up- and downsides. Also, happy to share and train language skills (German/English/Spanish). I'm handy with bicycle repairs, and like cats - so I can give them love (food) if they want to.
