About Me

CURRENT MISSION

'Without a care in the world except learning a bit about it'

ABOUT ME

AM: Canadian, female, youthful, caffeinated, and anticipating my next adventure

WAS: a student, a political junkie, shy, and playing it a bit safe

RECENTLY: craigslisted my things, worked the Van 2010 Olympics, and jumped on a plane to the 'old world' with a one-way ticket and nothing booked

CURRENTLY: working in a bistro in Stroud (where?!? I know - small town in the Cotswolds nearer Bristol than London) after completing a 3 month 'Behind the Iron Curtain' tour that included Berlin for 6 weeks, Helsinki, the 3 Baltic capitals, Warsaw, Budapest, Prague, 3 Greek islands, Athens, and Istanbul. Saving up some money to continue exploring.

PHILOSOPHY

The poem, Desiderata, by Max Ehrmann pretty much sums it up, particularly the lines -

'You are a child of the Universe / No less than the trees and stars / And whether or not it is clear to you / No doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should'

Music, Movies, and Books

Les Miserables is my all time favourite. {Just saw the musical in the West End of London!} Like everything I've read to date by Chuck Palahniuk, Nick Hornby, James Frye, Ayn Rand, and most Dickens (can't get behind Great Expectations for some reason though) and was recently blown away by Achak Deng's, What is the What - his autobiography about coming of age in the Southern Sudan, and so much more. A must-read.

Movies - The Royal Tenenbaums, Stranger than Fiction, High Fidelity, Empire Records, etc.

Music - I have a slightly embarrassing crush on Trent Reznor...currently listening to The Postal Service, Hey Ocean!, Vampire Weekend, and Sublime

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw Canada win the Olympic Gold Medal hockey game during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics from the inside of the Main Media Centre - finished work and joined the incredible street party on Robson St. A magical final day to an incredible Olympic experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach you chess - or play a game or two if you already know how

Learn - reiki, german, anything you have a passion for really :)

Share - experiences, coffee, and hometowns :)
