About Me

I am an open-minded 24-year old guy with only a little travel experience, but eager to get going. I have been learning Spanish since November, 2021, mostly by watching videos, listening to podcasts, and changing the language on my phone Spanish. This learning journey is the reason I specifically want to travel to Spain and experience the culture and language first-hand. I am very much looking forward to learn more about the Spanish culture and gain more perspective on life, and not least, meeting locals along the way. I figured couch-surfing would be a good tool for this mission.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One thing is to travel to another country and observe the locals go about their usual businees. Another is to be involved yourself. I would love to meet the people of this country. Who are they? What are their customs, their stories, their perspectives, their dreams?
Aside from that, I am also ready to go do fun and interesting things, and it would be awesome to have company :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am listening to all kinds of music. On my Spotify list there is no favorite artist, but rather, there are many different artist of which I have a few favorit'ed songs. To give an idea of what I listen to, here are some of them: Parov Stelar, Queen, TIX, Ed Sheeran, GIMS, Walk off the Earth, Elvis Presley, Tycho, Emancipator, Michael Jackson.
Movies: The Last Samurai, Disney's Tarzan, Deadpool, Gladiator, Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Lord of the Rings.
Favorite series: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad.
I am reading Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet, and even though I have not finished it yet (I am approximately 85% through), I think it has already grabbed its place as my favorite book. It's a very well-written book, and something about the middle ages just grabs my attention.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To motivate myself to learn German, I set up a deal with a friend. I transferred 1200kr (approximately 161 euros) to him and told him, that he should give them back only if I manage to study German for at least 2 hours a week every week for the next six months. For every week that I fall short, he is tasked to donate 100 kr (13 euros) to the republican party in USA (basically donate them to Trump) in my name. Did I get all my money back? Oh, yes I did.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am teaching Danish to a Spanish friend, who, in turn, teaches me Spanish. I am currently learning software technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and Helm as part of my job. I am also learning jiu-jitsu techniques - for those of you who are familiar with jiu-jitsu, I am specifically learning attacks from top side pins by Gordon Ryan.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer language exchange in Danish, English and German. Though note, that my German isn't nearly as good as my English. I could cook up a Danish dish or bake danish ryebread, if I can find the ingredients. I can otherwise help with cooking or dishwashing. I'd love to sit and chat, share stories, talk philosophically or sing a song.
