About Me

I am easy going, easy to get along with, friendly, but not in an extroverted way, I am more a watcher.
Grew up appreciating the outdoors and love spending time in nature with friends (hiking, biking, climbing, sailing, skiing, ...). Non-smoker.
I love hearing music and in my childhood I started to learn some instruments but unfortunately without great success.
In addition, one of my favorite hobbies is photography. I love going outside and taking photos.
Since 40 years I live in the south of Germany and work in the car industry.
But actually I´m released from my workplace, similar to a pre-retirement and so I take the time for a 3-month trip to NZ starting in Jan 2024.
I have two grown-up children and live with my partner in Reutlingen close to the "swabian alb".

Some of my guidelines for life:
"Love can solve more problems than you think"
"Treat your fellow people as you would like to be treated yourself"
"paths are created by walking them"
"A ship in a harbour is safe, but that´s not what ships are build for"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got more involved with Couchsurfing when I was planning my 3-month trip to NZ. On my previous trips, I often stayed in Airbnb accommodations and in New Zealand also in hostels. I loved getting in touch with the locals and learning about their lives. But now I want to take the next step for myself. I have the opportunity to have more time and will use it for a deeper kind of exchange.
So I’m looking forward to becoming part of the couchsurfing community, meeting new people and making friends. The more the merrier.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like good, high-quality music of all styles except Hard-Rock and Heavy Metal and I like going to live concerts. I usually don´t discover my new favorites on the radio, but on YouTube or other websites.

Movies are great. I love challenging thrillers, SciFi, docus, and a lot more.

I prefer to read historical novels, so I also learn something about history and life in the past.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spend an outdoor night at -25 deg Celsius without tent. Together with a local nature-loving man I did a 2 day trip in winter with ski in the polar region. In the evening we rested in the forest, made a big fire on the snow, admired the stars and due to my good sleeping bag I had a really good night there.

Teach, Learn, Share

We always remain students of life. Everyone can teach you, just listen to them. I would like to know more about the place where you live, stories and the history of your family, your tales from traveling and your new travel ideas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversations about a lot of themes (travel, politics, philosophy, technical issues, hobbies, music, history, ...)
I can bake a cake, cook some meals, share enjoying a glas of wine and/or coffee.
Let´s do some common outdoor activities.
I love to repair a lot of damaged stuff.
