About Me

ABOUT ME
My name is Andres, I grew up in Ecuador and I'm currently living in Edinburgh. I'm curious about different cultures/traditions, unconventional as well as quotidian life in other countries. I enjoy talking about art and music, speculating about utopian and dystopian futures, politics, conscience, evolution, etc. I do some sports (football, climbing, beach volleyball). Sometimes I cook, not only Ecuadorean food. I've been blessed with the opportunity to travel a bit and leave abroad as well. I have lived in Australia for 2 years and backpacked in Southeast Asia, South America, India, and a tiny bit of Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the idea of a sharing culture that is not made into a business and it gives people the chance to meet travellers and create meaningful connexions while giving a helping hand at the same time. I haven't really used Couchsurfing as a guest yet. But I've hosted some wonderful people while living in Australia. I hope I can soon do the same during my time in Scotland.

Music, Movies, and Books

I bit of many things. I grew up loving 90s music (rock, pop, hip-hop, Latinamerican rock)
In the last few years, I've come to appreciate electronic music. I don't know much about it, technicalities, names, etc. But enough to spot the good stuff. In terms of music, not into very commercial stuff in general.

Among my favourite directors are Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Gaspar Noe. Into horror films, thrillers, sci-f, B movies.
Some authors I like: GG Marquez, Julio Cortazar, Humberto Eco, Murakami, J. Saramago, C. Bukowsky, Kafka, Aldous Huxley
