I'm a young painter, writer, musician and teacher from St. Paul MN. I studied literature and philosophy at University--and both have had a profound influence on how I look at the world and the way I interact with other people. In the time I've spent studying philosophy, in writing workshops, and leading seminars, I've developed a deep love for real, substantial conversation. I love connecting with people in a meaningful way, sharing myself, and learning from other's experience. I want to meet people whose vision of the world challenges my own.

I'm Couchsurfing as a way to meet new people and put myself in new situations. I've spent most of my young adult life in the same city, and I feel a need to expand my horizons. I want to engage with and learn from other communities. I want to try out different ways of living. I want to push my comfort zone. Having spent so much of my life in the same place, I want to try living more on the move, making new friends and sharing my life with people and looking at life from new perspectives.

Music: Sufjan Stevens, Leonard Cohen, John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett, Radiohead, The Magnetic Fields...
Movies: Almost anything by Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, or Paul Thomas Anderson. I also love the animation work of Hayao Miyazaki, Marcell Jankovics, and Yurri Norstein.
Books: Impossible to choose. But I love John Berger, Fyodor Dostoyevski, Franz Kafka, Virginia Woolf, David Foster Wallace, Philip K. Dick, Ivan Turgenev, William Faulkner, Anton Chekov, Saul Bellow...

I do a little of short fiction writing and I love to tell and share stories about life. I play guitar and sing, so I'd love to find someone to play or sing with. And I draw and paint--so I'd also love to draw you portrait, or do a watercolor sketch of someplace dear to you.
