About Me

Hi. My name is Andrew, and I am a well travelled guy who is now looking to give back to the travelling community by offering the spare room to travellers when available.

I am separated, so I have my kids most weekends, but during the week the spare room is available. I live in Kangaroo Point, right underneath the Story Bridge. The apartment has fantastic views of the Bridge, the Brisbane River and the park below. The free ferry to the city is out the front, so you can be in the city in about 5 minutes.

There are cycling and jogging paths out the front and the iconic Story Bridge Hotel is a couple of minutes walk away. The location is brilliant.

I do have a cat - Ziggy - which I rescued from the pound. So if you are allergic to cats then probably not a good idea to stay!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've done a lot of travelling when I was younger. I got the travel bug I guess from my parents who packed up the family and travelled around Europe in a Kombi in 1977! Since then have travelled regularly, including 12 months as an Exchange Student in Denmark when I was 16.

This is really just a way for me to give back to the travelling community who have given me some fantastic experiences over the years.

Interests

I obviously spend a lot of time with my kids on the weekends, but I love challenging myself and doing big hikes. I've been lucky enough to complete the Kokoda Trek in Papua New Guinea and Mt Kinabalu in Borneo the last couple of years.

I do like sport as well - cricket and Australian football, and English soccer, but not fanatical.

Music, Movies, and Books

Very varied so hard to put down. I did read the book and watched the movie "Wild" recently. The movies was better than the book.

Have lots of books next to my bed, but they are all very different.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably Kokoda Trek - 9 days hiking through the jungle following the World War II trail. Physically tough, but also a very emotional journel.

Teach, Learn, Share

A good attitude to life and about giving back.
