关于我

CURRENT MISSION

teaching kids and climbing mountains

ABOUT ME

I grew up in North Carolina in the United States, and went to university there, where I played lots of music and read lots of books.

After realizing that it was hard to get paid to read books and play music, I moved across the country to Seattle, Washington, where I worked for Habitat for Humanity for a few years, building houses for low-income families.

After that, I moved to South Korea to become an English teacher. I've had a great time here teaching, traveling in Asia, and hanging out in the mountains.

And now, I'm in San Francisco

PHILOSOPHY

Lots of people seem to close themselves off to new experiences as they get older. They listen to the same music, do the same things, have the same opinions, etc, etc.

I want to always keep myself open to new experiences and ideas, so as not become a crotchety old man too soon.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to start hosting travelers this spring. When I traveled last summer, I stayed with couchsurfers in Vietnam.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hung out with the couchsurfing people in Seoul, and stayed with nice folks in Vietnam.

音乐、电影和书籍

Music:
Lots and lots.
There are some Korean bands I like, like Mukimukimanmansuˆ˜, Glen Check, The Black Skirts, and others. If you want to go listen to some music in Seoul, let me know.

Books:
Also lots and lots.
I have a particular fondness for David Foster Wallace and George Saunders.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I rode my bicycle all the way across the US a couple of years ago. I rode from North Carolina (my home) to San Diego. The landscapes were beautiful, and I met and stayed with lots of amazing people.

教,学,和分享

-I used to work in a bicycle shop, so I can probably fix your bicycle.
-If you don't speak much Korean, I can teach you a few things (but I'm not an expert).
-I worked in construction for a few years, so I have general carpentry skills.
