Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Andrew ('Drew')... I'm from a tiny Mediterranean island called Malta. I'm currently on a year long career break I took to travel around and enjoy the world a bit.
My full-time job is of a doctor - still pretty junior :) - my hope is to start specialising in anaesthesia and critical care once I go back home.
My aim during my travels is to explore existing in countries different to my own, with all the experience that comes with that, be it meeting new people, exploring different cities and towns, engaging with societies which are politically and economically different from my own, and of course... Consuming as much local food as I can get :D
Countries which I've been to so far during the gap year: Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan (in process).
!Free Palestine!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Real, authentic interaction with locals is one of the aspects I prize the most about travel. Given how transactional connections are in a consumer society, these can be pretty difficult to get especially in foreign countries.
I am hoping couchsurfing will bring me more in touch with the lived experiences and mindsets that make up the people living in the places I visit.
Interests
I dedicate a lot of my time to enjoying art in as many media as I can. My favourite medium would probably either be a short fictional novel, or else a double album!
Good conversation over a well-brewed coffee is one of my favourite things to enjoy in the world. I am happy to talk anything from anime to philosophy to film.
Keeping fit is also a lifelong journey which piques my interest sporadically, but perhaps not ultra-consistently... I've had experience in karate, running, football, and weightlifting.
