Overview
About Me
I'm Andrew - I grew up on a large hobby farm in Canada to Danish and South African parents... and then we moved to Australia when I was 12.
I'm looking to travel to move at a slower pace... to expose myself to new environments that I wouldn't otherwise see... and to have more free time to play with my creativity... While taking some time out of the big smoke that has been largely home for me this last decade (Sydney).
I'm a super laid back dude, highly introspective but also really enjoy connecting with people. Nature is really important to me and trees have been perhaps one of my greatest teachers.
I love a good chat around the campfire... I'm a storyteller/marketer by trade, but in my free time you will often find me working on my poetry, long form reflections, or perhaps even learning the didgeridoo.
I just recently had my first paid poetry gig which was nice! I'm curious about starting to use my voice more though (i.e. perhaps singing), and playing around with some basic beats to go along with my words, as opposed to just having a generic music accompaniment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Man I love connecting with people - saying hello is the one largest thing that has had an impact on my life this last decade. To the extent I used to run I podcast where I only spoke to strangers that thought they didn't have a story. And made a video manifesto called "The World Needs More Hello."
Some of my best friends have been bus drivers, people I've met randomly on the street, or couples that I've taken a photo of at a tourist spot. Or that time in India where I stayed with a fellow van of a Youtube channel that I met in a facebook group!
I'm relatively new to the idea of Couchsurfing but lately have been expanding my horizons a bit and travelling more - locally to start with - and I'm having the most amazing time. A few of my friends have had great experiences so thought why not :)
