About Me

I am an easy going, adventurous person with a drive to create community and continue learning. I have 3 kids, 8, 5 & 3 and I am married to a wonderful partner who gives me stability, support and kindness and I try to reciprocate. We have lived in the Tidewater area of Virginia for 8 years and both grew up in the desert high planes of New Mexico, which still permeates through our blood!
I grew up with a father who was a Pastor and really did not want to do that too, but I found myself being continuously drawn to pastoral ministry and for the last 3 years I have been serving a church in Chesapeake, VA and I am learning that I really do love it, but have much to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am starting an education path that will take me to Duke Divinity School several times a year and we are a family on a budget and I would much rather meet people and along the way than stay by myself!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite author is Annie Dillard, especially her book "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek".
I have forever been a fan of Chris Farley.
I love to read about spiritual practices of all faiths and have found that very helpful and practical in finding more peace in life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a mentor who is in his 60s and we have gone on 2 retreats a year for the last 13 years.
This might seem strange in our culture, and may not be for every one, but it has been extremely formative for me and helped me in numerous ways.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have played guitar for 15 years and I am not awesome but have helped a few beginners get started.
I love to cook and have developed a few recipes that are crowd pleasers, but am always learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be glad to help with cooking, cleaning and offering a space to listen!
