About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Study abroad in Strasbourg, France for Fall 2016 to conduct thesis research on the economics of urban rail systems.

ABOUT ME

I was released honorably from active duty Naval service in February 2013, returned home to Kansas City, MO area for that summer. I subsequently moved to Oregon to begin college and am now a junior at Lewis & Clark College. During the summer of 2013 I hitchhiked through over 35 states, scoping out the majority of the United States. I've also hiked the Grand Canyon, backpacked though much of Utah, Colorado, the Black Hills, Wyoming, and Montana--and couchsurfed here and there along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life unencumbered, don't be afraid to act or take chances based on what MIGHT go wrong.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was stationed on a submarine for 3.5 years and have slept, bathed, and eaten hundreds of feet under the ocean. Not that amazing from my perspective, but unique nonetheless.

In the span of nearly four weeks hitchhiking around the Southeastern United States, I rode with over a hundred strangers (and met hundreds more through the travels) who all showed me compassion and were wonderful people. Through this, I have come to believe the world is still more full of good than bad.
