About Me

ABOUT ME

Married to Heidi. We have a cat, Cooper. We like snowboarding in winter. Climbing in summer. Camping whenever the weather allows. We are members of the local film society and enjoy downtown life.

PHILOSOPHY

People matter, maybe more than anything else. Ideas are bridges (or walls) between people that are waiting to be explored. I love conversation and anything with a strong communal element.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been dormant for a few years. I honestly forgot about the site, until a friend reminded me of it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been floored by the generosity of strangers in my own travels, that is why I want to be a part of this network.

I am interested in most things. Outdoors, craft beer, coffee, movies, community, etc...

Music, Movies, and Books

Sigur Ros, Matt and Kim, Cut Copy, CSS, Beirut, Belle and Sebastian, Of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Radio Dept., Iron and Wine, Diplo, Buena Vista Social Club, Bon Iver, Andrew Bird.

Books:
I love Nabokov (though most of his literary references are over my head), the plays of Tom Stoppard and Shakespeare, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once a public transit worker in Brisbane saw me trying to figure out how I could get across town without public transit (it had closed down) and without spending in money (I had none), so he decided that he would take me where ever I needed to go. He said he had a son about my age and would want someone to do the same for him, so that is why he was helping me. We ended up lost for about an hour. I felt terrible for the guy, and so grateful. He really saved my neck. That is just one of countless amazing things I have seen.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy discussing most things. Politics in particular, but also religion and philosophy.
