About Me
CURRENT MISSION To live life, or die trying!
ABOUT ME Hi everybody, We've been couch surfing since 2012, and have loved every minute of it! My wife Sarah and I moved to the UK from New Zealand where we both went to university. Sarah is a large animal veterinarian, and I gave up a lucrative career in IT to do what I love and work with my hands. Prior to NZ we both grew up in a rural part of Vermont. I have a large number of hobbies, including just about anything, maybe I'll list a few of them in the 'interests' section :) http://www.facebook.com/andrew.p.spencer2
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING We've surfed all across Europe, and have also had the pleasure of hosting several wayward travellers at our humble abode when we were living in the UK.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE One of the most gracious couch surfers we've met was kind enough to collect us at the ferry terminal at 1am after our boat was delayed by 7 hours getting to his island. He made what would have been an otherwise drudgerous situation much more bearable, and we can only hope to extend the same kindness to others.
Interests
What do you like to do in your free time? We were active members of British Rowing in the UK, and I rowed during my years at Otago University in Dunedin. I enjoy restoring old cars, have a few major restorations under my belt, but try not to tackle anything younger than I am (1985).
Having taken over running the family welding business in 2017, I seem to find less and less free time to get out and about, but we still squeeze in as much cycling and skiing as we can get away with.
We’re also both active EMTs with our local volunteer ambulance service, which keeps us very busy, especially during the ski season.

Music, Movies, and Books
What do you like to watch, read, and listen to?I'll watch and listen to most anything, and have never had the time to read books, until after a recent Audible subscription I discovered the joy of audio books. Now I can multitask and pretend like I'm an intellectual!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling to Venice to see the Maestro Vittorio Constantini at work in his glassblowing studio
Teach, Learn, Share
What kinds of skills or information could you share with someone?
Well, I'm full of all sorts of useless information:
How to whistle with your hands like an ocarina, how to pick a lock, how to knit, how to cut a wine bottle in two, how to replace an iphone screen, how to tie knots including a bowtie, trinity, eldridge, and other necktie knots, how to ninja fold a shirt, how to powershift, how to throw a knife, how to break an apple in two, how to season a frying pan, how to make a v10 engine sound with a beer can, the list goes on...
Here are a few of the projects I've done in the past:http://www.instructables.com/member/andrew.spencer.2/
