About Me

CURRENT MISSION

one day i'd like to be really really alarming good at something. anything, even if it's walking or telling stories. or camping. right now i'm just sort of good at lots of things.

ABOUT ME

i like to explore. i like seeing new areas i've never been, and i love taking the time to observe areas i've driven by for years. sometimes you'll find your new favorite spots behind a chunk of city that you've grown to accept as part of the landscape.

i'm not above doing "boring" things, like walking around or just looking at stuff. the only things I think are boring are watching television or other forms of just sitting around. i can appreciate good film, but i can only watch other people have fun for so long before i want to do something on my own.
i love to try new things, and i'm down for anything that doesn't test my ethical and moral bounds.

even if you can't host me overnight, i'd love to hang out with you. i enjoy meeting new people. you can show me what you think is fun, i can show you some, and i bet we can learn from each other. i'm in Atlanta every week, so feel free to message me anytime.

PHILOSOPHY

the Universe does not happen in English. we observe events around us, and we do our best to explain them in the languages we were each taught.
the explanation of observable phenomena, no matter how simple or complex, is known as Science.
the way we explain things we cannot observe is known as Faith.
the line between Science and Faith is often blurred by careless speech. when wood burns, the fire releases water and carbon dioxide. this is a fact. however, some areas of science are inconclusive. when we get into the Why of things, or other topics such as whether or not certain foods are good or bad for you, educated professionals tend to offer their opinions when a conclusive answer is not necessarily available. and even when scientists reach a final conclusion, it is not necessarily correct. we must always be wary of human error.
therefore: Faith, whether welcome or not, has a very important role in Science. in fact, we "normal" people choose whether or not we want to Believe what Science tells us. Science is wrong sometimes, because it is merely a human explanation of something so big and vast that it doesn't seem to care that we exist.

now mine:
i believe that consciousness is not something that is perpetuated, not created. living things cannot teach themselves to teach themselves. humans, although technically animals, are 100% different from animals. our speech, goals, and our questions set us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom.
there is regular debate about whether humans are inherently good or evil. i Believe that our flesh binds us to the earth, a beautiful and devastating place. when we obey our flesh, we are likely to commit actions with no regard to Wrong or Right.
i Believe we have Souls. i realise that this seems silly to many people, but there is a part of us that connects us with others on some level that permits us compassion. i Believe that this "part" is in contrast to what our bodies often crave and desire.
i Believe that Someone created (in order, macro to micro) the universe, earth, and life; and not by accident. i believe this due to my observation of Energy and Equilibrium. i Believe that to deny this is to ignore some crucial elements of what Science teaches us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i joined CS because i need a place to stay; therefore i am MOST UNFORTUNATELY unable to host. wouldificould

however, in exchange for your hospitality, i am more than happy to cook or um... gosh, what are my skills? i can fix things. you know, analog electronic devices. nothing too fancy. i can't fix Everything, but if i say i can fix it, i guarantee i at least won't break it further.
if it helps, i'll gladly clean your kitchen [or your bathroom if you have beer].

Interests

i love good music and good art, healthy food, clean air. i like to write and explain things. i could be a good teacher, but i've got a lot to learn.
my favorite place to be is Outside. i think i've said that twice before. i like to run and climb on things, and i like to do that "Parkour" stuff that people thought was cool in 2007. i still think it's pretty cool.
one reason i like being outside so much is because there's an infinite amount of fresh air. plants breath our air, and it becomes oxygen. the oxygen particles that we breath have been exhaled by people that we have never met, people that died thirty or a hundred years ago. Whoa

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

you ever watch a movie, and the camera closes in just the right way? sometimes it's perfect. i love it.

Teach, Learn, Share

i've always heard that proper eating, sleep, and exercise are the key to healthy living; but it wasn't until recently that i've learned to feel the real effects of deprivation and poor nutrition.

sometimes you can be told, be explained something back to front, but until you realise it, you may never believe the truth.
