About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My main goal is to visit cities across the globe to share experiences and mostly art. I love to paint and I live by the philosophy of "Eat, Sleep, Work, Paint, Travel." Where ever I stay I would love to leave a little piece of art for my host to enjoy.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is not a rat race or trying to out do "the Jonses." Spending time to get the next biggest TV, fastest car, and best new cell phone is nice but not for me. Life is an experience and not about status. The only things we can take to the grave are our memories and experiences, so have fun spend as much time and energy making the best memories and best experiences. A healthy life starts with a healthy family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Any three day to week off I have at work you best believe I'll be couch surfing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couch surfing experience was in Portland and I traveled with a great friend of mine who told me about couch surfing. I was very nervous on meeting this person and if we would encounter any awkward moments. Right off the bat, she welcomed us in with open arms and overwhelmed us with hospitality. As we began to share about life, we found common ground in traveling and how life is all about the experience. We later ate and drank and shared about family, values, relationships, jobs, and favorite life moments. That night, we went out to karaoke which was completely out of our comfort zones, but we had a blast by dancing and drinking the night away! During our trip we visited Upper Playground, Ground Control, food trucks, Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, Powells Book Store, Doug Fir, Crystal Ball Room, vintage stores, Portland Timbers Stadium, Saturday Market, Burnside Skatepark, and the Occupy Portland Camp. The ideas I learned from Portland was how involved each person was for their city. People love to debate on political issues, eat healthy (vegetarian or vegan), take action on their environment by recycling, and how they would rather sit down to talk instead of watching TV. Coming home, I was more aware about politics, the economy, eating more healthy (staying away from fast food), willing to try more vegan food, turned off my TV, and really appreciating my friends and family. I learned that couch surfing was not just about traveling but learning about the culture, others, and about yourself.
