About Me

Having worked a corporate job in London for 3 years, I decided to pack that in and explore the world.

I've hitchhiked across two continents - firstly from England to Turkey and back again, visiting most countries between. I then hitched down the two coasts of USA and Canada, and was only threatened with a gun once which I think is pretty good going.

I then spent 3 years volunteering at the World Scout Centre in the Alps in Switzerland, teaching kids how to climb mountains, cross glaciers, and be responsible global citizens. It was there I learnt the true capacity for loving what you do and being in an inspirational place with incredible people.

Volunteering in Greece and helping refugees and other displaced people further opened my eyes to the difference individuals can make, and it is a cause I continue to be involved with.

Most recently I travelled across South America for 4 months, and then moved to the wonderful city of Barcelona, where my appalling attempts at learning Catalan and Spanish are a stain on my character. However, Barcelona is a forgiving city, and if you can make it here I would love to share it with you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS for similar reasons to why I hitchhike - while travelling to new places is fun, interacting with people from different backgrounds is equally fantastic, and you often learn more from speaking to others than you can from a guide book in a random place!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing through the night, using ice axes to cross glaciers and being led by the moon until we reached a summit at 3300m to watch the sun rise across the Alps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I learnt this hitchhiking but have taken it into the rest of my life - it's ALWAYS worth asking. Be it for a lift, entry into something exciting, that pretty person sitting near you - if you don't ask you definitely won't get!
