About Me

I'm married with three kids. Kids live in Houston TX with their mother. My wife is on a work/study program in England for an additional qualification in her field. I'm stationed in Japan and living on base. I'm fluent in Japanese, which I learned by living here as a Mormon missionary years ago. I've since given religion the boot years ago and have it to thank only for my language skills. I love being in Japan. The night life is great and there's so much to see here.

I grew up in a family that heavily emphasized music. I play the cello and bass guitar, but am currently out of practice at both. I also have a passion for languages. Despite living in Germany five years, I don't speak much. My first job in the Army was linguist where I studied Arabic. But once again.. very out of practice there as well.

Politically speaking, my Army friends call me liberal. But the fact that they're called "my friends" means that I can also abide even Trump-supporters, or at least most of them.

I don't believe in god, but am a moral person. My morality summed up is simply don't hurt others or yourself. Aside from that, live and let live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel (which should be obvious) and have heard much about couch surfing. My wife has used it many times over the years. And I thought I'd give it a go... save money on lodging and meet new and interesting people. I've only used couch surfing as an additional guest with my wife (then partner) and despite it being a very unusual housing circumstance and difficult to sleep at night, I thought of the experience as rather interesting. So, to sum it up, I'm on Couchsurfing for new and interesting experiences, but hopefully not staying in a one room apartment on a tiny couch with nude photos of women on the walls and a mostly nude man sleeping on the floor next to me. ;-)
