About Me

I have an insatiable desire to see the world. I believe we learn more about ourselves with each trip we take to a new place. Just returned from eight months in South America - Peru, Colombia and Ecuador.

Just moved from San Diego to Denver and excited to begin this new chapter here. The mountains were calling and now I had to answer! I will go to some Couchsurfing events now that I'm in Denver and am excited to begin hosting again when I have my own place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I know San Diego well and can probably be a decent resource for those visiting the area. I'm a tour guide and I led hikes locally so I have a natural inclination to want to point people in the direction of great places, and although I'm not in San Diego anymore, I am still happy to be a resource!

I also would much rather a local connection in the places that I visit. I find one can meet some life-long friends while on the road, and I'm open to letting synchronicity do its part! I love to get locals' recommendations because usually those that host also love the area and want to share what's unique to see while I'm there.

Interests

Anything outdoors - hiking, kayaking, and running are my favorites. After my first trip to Costa Rica when I was 16, travel will forever be in my soul. I love exploring new places and am fascinated by foreign cultures.

Baseball, hockey, soccer and live music...yes please.

I think my newest adventure will be learning some kind of dance. I need lots of work here.

I love to read and write, and am currently looking at opportunities to work on conservation projects and in climate restoration. It's also of utmost importance to me to help people remember their connection to the natural world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to almost anything except opera and screaming metal, but if I had a radio with only one radio station it would have to be classic rock. I also really like EDM...I know, I'm all over the place.

Favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator and Dumb & Dumber, although the third doesn't really match with the first two... that's okay I guess.

The War of Art and Braiding Sweetgrass are two of my favorite books that come to mind right now, and my three favorite podcasts are The Unmistakable Creative, The Model Health Show, and the Tim Ferriss Podcast.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba dived at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of greatest fascinations is astronomy and the night sky: a couple cool things you can observe just by looking up at night (and I apologize if you already know this ):

If it's twinkling, it's a star, because it's generating its own light. If it's not twinkling, it's a planet, because it's reflecting the light shining off of it by the sun. Also if you're in a place without a lot of light pollution, you can often see satellites moving slowly across the sky. If you just look for a dim light moving slowly you can see them...the trick is not to look for the light but to look for movement.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a super comfortable couch and if I'm home I'll cook for you.

Also, the best outdoor gems in the San Diego area are my expertise; I can't get enough time in nature so I have lots of recommendations for beautiful places to see.

Also happy to share best places to eat depending on what type of food you like. My neighborhood has two of the best Italian restaurants in town and some great beer bars that do a great job of promoting the more than 70 local breweries.
