Update: Hey I just moved my location from Sunnyvale to Point Reyes Station! I'm not sure there are any surfers here! Hope to find some. If you stay, I'll have a private room for you. The rooms all have names and the room named Sola has a lot of windows, and is kind of the best room. Or Eagles Nest. I have status "Maybe" because I'm only there a few days each week, so it may work out, and probably will if you give me a little heads up.

I have lived my whole life in California, although I've traveled all over the world, and I went to school in Southern California...which is pretty far away!
I love dogs, nature, outdoors, learning, gadgets. I used to be a computer engineer, but now I am kind of retired. We'll see. I worked hard for a while, but I realize how lucky I am to be able to choose retirement.
I try to make the best of my free time with stuff like rescuing honey bee swarms, giving presentations to school kids about honeybees, being a good friend and a good dog owner.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I enjoy good company more than anything. I'm interested in couchsurfing to meet people. And I find it allows me to do a little vicarius traveling by hearing about traveling from visitors.

Garden State (partially because it has a lot of music by The Shins). Raising Arizona, my first love. Love Actually, the sweetest movie ever.

For nonfiction, I made some life changes after reading Michael Pollan's books. And I love books like Freakanomics: using science and math to understand things in new ways.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I collect swarms of honeybees when they appear in people's backyards. I've collected over 150 bee swarms and relocated a dozen or more hives since I've been doing it. I am listed as a swarm collector by my local bee guild, of which I am the "chair of the education committee". It just means I organize the members to attend speaking events about bees and pollination. I occasionally give talks on bees to kids and adults.
