To meet new people, travel, and share experiences and spread Greek culture!
Hello to everyone and thank you for visiting my profile! I am a 49 year old Greek man, currently spending most of my time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, teaching at a high school.
Its hard for me to describe myself (partly because my English is pretty basic), but I am typically described as sociable and very kind. Some things I do take seriously, like my job, my relationships, and my ideas. I like teasing people, but I also like laughing at myself.
I absolutely love swimming, particularly off of the coast of my hometown. I enjoy dancing, going to the theater (the REAL theater, not the cinema), but I do enjoy independent films from time to time.
Finally, I feel that it is best for me to live in multicultural communities. I feel that the constant mixing of ideas and culture is an essential part of my life. Being around only Greeks all the time can get boring!
When traveling, I enjoy noticing everything, even the smallest most insignificant details of a place. I believe life is much like the theater, meant to be observed and appreciated.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have no couchsurfing experience and I am new to the community.
As I mentioned before, I love swimming and dancing. I've been dancing for many years, and I've taken classes in styles from traditional Greek to modern and contemporary (for absolute beginners...)
I love listening to music, which feeds off of my love for dancing.
I enjoy reading interesting or beautiful books. Some of my favorites include the Illiad, the Odyssey, and Elytis. I like poetry as well, often more than literature.
I enjoy photography, both taking and observing pictures.
Music, Movies, and Books
In terms of movies, some of my favorites are "Johnny Took His Gun," "The Piano," "Andrei Roumbliof," "Billy Elliot," "The Color of Paradise" and "Cinema the Paradise", and "Bent."
And many, MANY more...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was present when my father, who was sick with cancer, took his very last breath. I do not think many people get to watch the very moment when life passes out of another.
Teach, Learn, Share
A goal of mine is to bring the culture of Greece wherever I go, and welcome everybody into it because hospitality is a deep part of who we are.
I also want to further my learning English.
