Discovering through eating, dancing, and a lot of laughing.
I took my first trip abroad to Kenya in January 2010, liked it so much I moved there 3 years later.
I was born in California, but have lived in Seattle, WA most of my life. I love the Pacific Northwest and am enthusiastic about sharing all the wonderful things it has to offer with others.
Currently, I work at the University of Washington in a HIV/AIDS research & training program. Still trying to find a good niche in global health. I'm not really sure where I'll end up in the next few years, but I kind of like that.
I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, *If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.* - Kurt Vonnegut
In a gentle way, you can shake the world - Mahatma Gandhi
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I always encourage others to connect via CS while traveling. I just moved to a great neighborhood in Nairobi, and can start hosting here.
I have met some new friends on CS while traveling, and hosted a few times in Seattle.
I'm an enthusiast, but things I particularly enjoy include (but not limited to):
COOKING with my mom (and new friends), KICKBOXING with a stranger, drinking WHISKY, LAUGHING at inappropriate things, PHOTOGRAPHING an emotionally filled moment, Loud MUSIC, BEING on top of mountains, getting LOST, doing YOGA with 200 people, sipping my morning COFFEE in silence, being on a BOAT, and making lists.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Let Me In, North By Northwest, The Hurt Locker, Chinatown, Vertigo, Cidade de Deus, The Apartment, Lost in Translation, Nairobi Halflife and No Country for Old Men
Music: all kinds, but at the moment i am in a folk and hip-hop stage.
Books: I enjoy mostly modern fiction, but am trying to diversify. Some favorites are Brave New World, Slaughter House Five, The Road, and Lord of the Flies. Also pretty much anything by Phillip Roth or Kurt Vonnegut.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to TEACH ya some tricks, LEARN languages, and SHARE some laughter.
