About Me

Hi my name is Angus,
I'm overly tall, overly formal and overly self deprecating!

I'm a Musician and English Teacher from Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne is a town where people talk about the amazing overseas trips they've just got back from OR the overseas trip there about go on in a few weeks.

In my travels, all I want to do is listen and learn. Whether that be new languages, new customs or learning about the history of where I am, I'm all ears!

I also like to be helpful and useful to my hosts like cooking dinner or getting groceries for the house.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I am tired of "sightseeing". I want to absorb the culture of a town or city through the people who live there - and hey - if we make some long lasting friendships while we're at it, I consider that a huge win!

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to Music, I love Rock:
The Kinks, Deep Purple, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets (from Australia)

But I also love everything else!
Aphex Twin, Bob Marley, Earth Wind & Fire, Kool & the Gang, Daft Punk, John Coltrane, Frank Zappa, Ahmad Jamal, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Kraftwerk, Zapp, MF Doom, Nas, Gorilaz, Yussef Kamal, Denzel Curry

Movies:
Birdman, Clerks, Hot Fuzz, Cinema Paradiso, Run Lola Run, Fantastic Mr Fox, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Dredd (2012)

Books:
Nineteen Eighty-Four, Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse), The Witcher

Videogames are awesome and also an art form, I have too many favourites to mention!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a six month exchange in Sweden! One time, I hopped on an overnight train right after class and went up to a town called Kiruna in the far north. When I got off the next morning it was -20. I then got picked up in a snowmobile and taken out to a cabin deep in the snow.

As you can see, I survived the experience :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to listen and learn from my host primarily but, if you like, I do have some skills.

I'm a native English speaker and trained English teacher so if you want to practice English with me I'd be more than happy.

I can teach Music production (Ableton, Pro Tools, Logic and Garage Band) and songwriting, so by all means, let me know if that interests you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love listening to all types of music but I also like to write and play music. If you have an instrument or even some decent speakers, LET'S JAM!

I love to cook! Seriously, point me to the nearest super market and I'll happily cook you something just don't ask me to cook a traditional Australian dinner, I still have no idea what that would be.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Poland, Scotland, South Korea

Countries I’ve Lived In
