About Me

I have just finished working as waiter in Chicago and am now slowly making my way around the US for a month, so if you fancy putting me up for a night or two it would be greatly appreciated!

I'm very interested in American culture and would love to meet and spend time with some real-life American people before I reluctantly return to Britain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My housemate uses couchsurfing and we ended up collectively hosting some couchsurfers in our Uni house last year which was a lot of fun. We ended up meeting some very interesting and friendly people so naturally I wanted to try it myself.

I believe that couchsurfing is the best way of by-passing dull and impersonal city visits by gaining valuable insight and advice from the local people.

Interests

I really enjoy walking and cycling in the countryside, going to the pub, drinking cocktails, playing Xbox, painting portraits of people, eating in nice restaurants, reading and meeting interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I do English Literature as a degree at Cardiff University so reading takes up a lot of my spare time. My favourite books are Catch 22 by Joseph Conrad, Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and 1984 by George Orwell.

Films: The Graduate, Lost in Translation and all the Lord of the Rings films.

TV: Flight of the Conchords, The Office, The Simpsons, Game of Thrones.

Music: Most rock and folk music which includes a lot of artists from the 60s and 70s (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin etc.) . I also like Mac Demarco, Radiohead and Elliot Smith.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was quite near to Mount Etna when it erupted in 2002 but managed to walk away unscathed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I picked up some Spanish lingo from the Mexicans I worked with in Chicago but would love to learn some more.

I play guitar, bass and piano so would like to learn/ teach/ play with any one who already plays or wants to play an instrument.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you host me I can rustle up a Mitchellin star vegetarian meal which would usually cost you $40.

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, Egypt, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, Wales
