Hi! My name is Angus! Gentleman, giggler, and your next best pal! I'm a New Zealander currently residing in the United Kingdom.

Having left the shores of my homeland in early 2015, I traversed the world on a whirlwind tour of South-East Asia, India, Europe and the United Kingdom before finding new pals (through couchsurfing) with whom I live in the wonderful city of Liverpool for a year and a half.

In Liverpool I work in an amazing music venue called Studio 2 as a bartender as a means to get away for sneeky adventures both within the UK and Europe. When I'm not working or adventuring I have been enjoying exploring my musical abilities both in recording original tunes and performing around town.

Back home I worked for many years as a graphic designer and illustrator, for a long time as a freelancer but also for a marketing agency. While my passions still lie in this area, I am quite happy taking a break from it until I return home.

My other hobbies include cycling, cooking and red wine. One of the later stages of my 2015 travel involved a solo cycle mission from Amsterdam to Paris, which may be one of the greatest things I've ever done.

In 2017 I left the UK and travelled around the east coast of the United States and Europe for 8 months, including extensive time in Ireland, France (more cycling), Italy and Norway before returning home to New Zealand for my first Christmas in 3 years.

I returned back to Dunedin, where I worked in arts festivals and ran a theatre company for two years. I also met my wife and we got married. We are now in the UK for a few months to see where we might want to live when we come over long term in 2020.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelling is so much more than seeing sights and ticking boxes. Meeting the locals and seeing places from their perspective makes the experience of travelling so much more rewarding and memorable. I have been lucky enough to share my experiences with dozens of amazing people throughout my trip, who I will remember forever.
