About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Watching over a pasion fruit farm in far North Queensland

ABOUT ME

We are an adventurous Dutch family of four and we just returned from a year on the road in SE Asia. Actually we were on our way driving back to the Netherlands, but made it as far as Sri Lanka where we decided to go back to Australia. Now we are in the tropical part of North Queensland, watching over a passion fruit farm as the owner and his family went traveling until the end of september. Although not exactly on the road we are still driven by curiosity - wondering what is around the next bend. We are happy to meet, to connect and move on. Full of life and stories. Our girls Zahra (7) and Linde (6) seem shy at first but when they feel comfortable there is a lot of laughing and playing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We met Brice Servais on Sumatra, Indonesia, who introduced us into the wonderful world of Couch Surfing. We simply love it as the best way to connect to people on a personal level and to learn about the country.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far we wonder why we did not find out about Couch Surfing ages ago. We love it and meet great people out there!

Interests

Animals. Sander wants to eat them, Vera wants to treat them. All the girls in the house are turned into vegetarians after spending some time in SE Asia. We all love food. To try, to meet, to explore. Only to find out that borders do not exist but in our minds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When we were on the road in East Timor and Indonesia, Laos and Sri Lanka we tried to go out camping as much as possible, not a common thing to happen there. When we pulled up our rooftop tent people came from afar to watch the miracle happen. Once on Flores we put up or tent in the middle of a village. At one point we had an audience of 61 curious onlookers who stayed for hours observing us camping...
