About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Carpe Diem

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Ania. I grew up in Poland, moved to Ottawa, Canada in 1990, after having worked for 18+ years joined the redundancy club* in 2008 and a few weeks later embarked on what I'm doing to this day, which is travelling indefinitely. I would like to look after people's homes and pets while they're travelling too. As a traveller I'm pretty low-maintenance. I love to meet people and just wander around cities on foot, being a cheapskate. I enjoy sailing immensely. I would like to learn how to fly, I already took a couple of lessons ! I don't really care to go clubbing or stay out till stupid o'clock any more, but I'm more than happy to put the world to rights over a bottle of wine.

* This means I got made redundant, or in Americanspeak, laid off. As in, I lost my job. It's been a tenuous existence ever since...

PHILOSOPHY

"Spend each day trying to be a little wiser than you were when you woke up."
-- Charlie Munger

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to meet people with similar interests, to volunteer when needed.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Excellent. What a great way to meet like-minded people. I strongly believe that travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living !

Interests

travels of course, film, books, meeting people and getting to know them

Music, Movies & Books

Blood, Sweat and Tears; Wishbone Ash; Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Eric Clapton; Cold Play; Sade

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Hitch-hiked through the United States from coast to coast, then south to the Mexican border, Gulf of Mexico, Florida's Keys. We met lots of incredible, friendly people on our way. We had a little tent but hardly used it as we were being invited to private homes all the time to spend a night or more. I guess one could say it was kind of old fashioned couch-surfing, lol.
