About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I´m currently riding my bike from the southern tip of Spain to the arctic circle. Visiting old haunts and new, seeing, thinking, camping, listening, speaking, wondering, playing my violin...

ABOUT ME

A pretty normal, grounded childhood, self-schooled in highschool, cross-country ski raced and studied music in college, did some road bike racing, taught violin to little kids, other odd jobs. Now all my stuff is in boxes and I, my bike, and a trailer are traversing Europe. I look forward to when I no longer feel the urge to explore and can have a farm or bakery or play fiddle in a band, and have a couch and some cookies for visitors.

PHILOSOPHY

The other night it froze in the pasture where I´d set up my tent. There was no way the I was going to be warm enough to sleep. So I sat with my tent flap open to the full moon and ate some salted peanuts while I waited for the sun to rise behind me. I thought, "this is an experience that probably (hopefull) will not happen again. I think I´m going to savor it."

Music, Movies, and Books

LUCY'S LEGACY, a narrative record of the evolution of life. Funny, accessible, and astonishing. Also, David Sedaris´s ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY. Now I look at life as grist for short stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My good friend and I rode from Vermont to central Wisonsin in 12 days. This was the beginning of freedom...

Teach, Learn, Share

Here is what I´m learning on this trip:
-I find that the safest place I find to sleep is off the road where no one can find me and I can´t hear the cars.
-Riding in the rain is best with rubber gloves.
-There is always something worth thinking about.
-Eat when you are hungry.
-Time solves most problems if you are willing to wait.
-You can make and improvement without having made a mistake.
-If you are really cold at night, put on your swimsuit.
