ABOUT ME

I have blue eyes. The way I met my husband of thirteen years was that he dated my friend but it didn’t work out. One thing I would never do is read an abridged book. The last concert I went to was The Rolling Stones. Phoebe on Friends reminds me of myself.

I sent money and I regularly host travelers. I go to CS get-togethers when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had five lovely CS guests so far, and I am looking forward to more.

Interests

My top pleasures:
1. Going to the bookstore, getting coffee, and then browsing through all the books, picking up the ones I want to read through, and when I have a big stack, finding a big over-stuffed chair off in some corner and looking through my books.
2. Getting up early on a day that promises to be sunny, getting books, magazines, snacks, drinks, sun-tan lotion, boogie board, and my lawn chair and spending the entire day at the beach. I mean 9-5.
3. Going to some event, like a wedding or even Game Night, where for some reason - some combination of my mood and the company I'm with - I feel witty and charming and beautiful and absolutely the center of attention.
4. I can't forget my beloved email. Spending hours on the computer is wonderful.
5. Laying on the couch, or in bed watching TV, when I have both my cat and dog cuddled up with me. This is extremely rare since they both hate each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite authors are Ruth Rendell, Nora Lofts, Anne Rule, and Stephen King. I would love to meet Stephen King because he seems so smart, interesting, down-to-earth, and I have a lot of respect for him. My all-time favorite book is The India Fan by Victoria Holt.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in high school, my little brother and I had a club called the Pinching Club. I was the president. In later years, I wrote a college term paper on the Pinching Club. We had a whole list of rules, and we had a club motto, but the primary purpose of the club was to pinch famous people. Living out in the boondocks like we did (Crawford, Nebraska), we never had the opportunity to ever see any famous people, let alone pinch them. But when I grew up and moved to Baltimore where I am now, I had all kinds of chances to see, and in some cases meet, famous people. One day I had the opportunity to pinch one of my favorite childhood icons, Dickie Smothers (from the Smothers Brothers), and I took it!

Although Dickie Smothers liked it when I pinched him, I'm not sure every celebrity would, so I don't plan on doing it again. But it's touching that after all those years, the goal of the Pinching Club was finally achieved.

At last check in, my brother expressed interest in forming "The Heckling Club".
