About Me

Hello! I am a rising junior at Oberlin College originally from right outside of New York City. I am studying Theater and American Studies and have a passion for comedy (I do improv and stand up), creative writing, film making, songwriting, social justice/activism, and travel. I am working this summer at a theater company in NYC that supports and creates work predominantly by women and people of color.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm constantly driven to find out what's around the next corner, to try a new local dish, and to bring home a new story to tell. I love to travel, and I'm always eager to make some new friends along the way! I like getting a taste of what it's like to live somewhere that I can't get in a hotel. As an actor, I have a fascination with people and getting to know people all over the country/world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkle, Frank Ocean, Queen, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Margaret Glaspy. I love singing and playing guitar!

Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Frances Ha, Little Miss Sunshine...this list goes on forever (I LOVE movies).

Books: Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee (a play)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summer of 2018 I travelled alone at age nineteen to Cusco, Peru for six weeks to learn Spanish! I stayed with a host family I still keep in touch with and took classes six hours daily/ five days a week. In my spare time, I loved exploring the city, going to museums, and trying foods foreign to me. To end the trip, I trekked La Montaña de Siete Colores and did the five day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, growing deeply appreciative of my physical body for its ability to take me to beautiful places. Not only was I able to reach a high level of Spanish proficiency, but I was able to meet so many new people I still know and love today and have an adventure of a lifetime.

Teach, Learn, Share

My biggest goal is cultural exchange, so whatever I can learn about a new culture (and teach about mine) is a wonderful gift. I would love to swap stories, book/music/film recommendations, and more. I would love to speak about my life and travels and hear about those of others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always happy to help out with housework such as cooking, cleaning, etc. as well as anything else specific to you that would be helpful. I can also teach some fun card games and the beginnings of comedy improv! :)
